Decree 113/2015, of 22 May – New regulation in force regarding vacation homes and holiday lettings in the Canary Islands

After several years in which the Government of the Canary Islands pursued and punished those owners who carried out the tourist exploitation of their apartments without legal coverage, the Canary Islands Parliament passed the Law known as Decree 113/2015 of 22nd May.

The Decree allows rental of holiday homes after meeting some requirements such as health and safety, minimum equipment, etc.

The law also contains a list of legal requirements regarding:

A)    Identification, information and publicity.

B)    Conditions of use, cleaning, access to telecommunication services, furniture and equipment: number of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.

C)    Prices.

Holiday homes must be registered at the ‘Registro General Turístico de la Comunidad Autónoma de Canarias’.
